When might be a bad time to open a new business in Qualicum Beach? How about 3 days after the World Health Organization declares a pandemic, and 3 days before the province of BC declares a State of Emergency!
That date would be March 14 – the day Lazarus and “English” Paul opened Big Grin Bikes at 234 Second Avenue West, just across from Ravensong Pool.
Mid-March was also the time a lot of us were told to stay home and to exercise with caution in our own neighbourhoods. What better way to get some quality time with your family, while keeping a safe distance from everyone else, than by getting the bikes out of the garage and heading out for a ride.
The gear shifter a bit stiff, front tire worn out, brakes weak and squeak?
No problem, since opening day Paul has been busy doing tune-ups. Nothing will give you a “Big Grin” faster than hopping on a freshly tuned and lubricated bicycle. Unless it’s a bigger grin on a brand new ride!
Big Grin Bikes is a new venture for Lazarus Difiore and “English” Paul. Both are industry veterans some of you riders will probably know from their days in Parksville bike shops. A big warm welcome to Qualicum Beach to Lazarus and Paul, and to their partners and young children.
While adhering to COVID-19 guidelines for cleaning and disinfecting the premises, they are also limiting the number of people in the shop at one time to maintain safe distancing. Big Grin Bikes also offers mobile repairs and deliveries.
Drop by and say hi – Monday to Saturday, 10:00 to 5:00 pm, 250 752-0025. They are ready to help you enjoy the summer ahead with a big grin on your face.
