13-year-old QB blues guitar sensation nominated for national blues award
It will come as no surprise to those who know local 13-year-old Qualicum Beach musician Liam Docherty — but he has just been nominated for a 2020 national Maple Blues Award in the New Artist Category for his debut album Modern. Magic. Melody. He is the youngest nominee in the 23 year history of the Toronto Blues Society event which will be held (virtually) on February 21, 2021.
Docherty says that his debut album was recorded “live off the floor with no splices, overdubs, or auto tuning. It’s just me and my acoustic guitar. It features 7 original songs and 5 of my favourite blues songs.”
Check out his music. Like what you hear? Then register at the Maple Blues Awards and vote to help him bring home his first MBA.
From the blues fans here at Second Opinion QB, congratulations Liam!
